Night-friendly Lighting Design Approach at the old city of Ioulis on the island of Kea

Natural Nightscape:
According to measurements of 23/10/2014 artificial light at uninhabited landscapes of Kea only 3km far from the city of Ioulis led to values below the Paranal solar max, suggesting an excellent night sky quality

Achieved Results:
In the photomerically documented environment of the marked three “highlighted” sites-churches, the recorded Illuminance levels in the immediate surrounding public space displayed values of 0.06 lx, 0.08 lx, and 0.02 lx for the Churches of Sts Antony and Menas, of the Holy Trinity, and of the Archangel Michael, respectively. These levels are almost four times lower than the level of lighting with a full moon at its zenith and totally comparable with the median value of moonlight in October for the latitude of Kea, which is 41 mlx, and the corresponding mean value for moonlight for Kea in October, which is 57 mlx.
